Andrea Borgman-Quist has been in the fitness business for over 25 years. Starting as an AFAA certified Aerobics Instructor and Personal Trainer in Marin County, she eventually purchased In Step With Fitness, an exercise studio in Mill Valley, California. She spent five years teaching high intensity aerobics classes as well as continuing to provide personal training services. After relocating to Monterey she completed her Pilates Instructor Training and Certification course at Pacific Movement Center in 2002. She is certified to teach mat Pilates and certified to teach Pilates Reformer, Trapeze Table and other apparatus.
Andrea passed the Pilates Method Alliance Certification test in 2006, making her one of only 136 in California to hold such a credential.
In November of 2009 she and her colleague and friend Mia Hurst opened Pilates Monterey, a private studio with Pilates equipment for individuals and group classes. Their goal is to provide excellent Pilates training in a relaxed environment, for people of all ages and levels of fitness.
Currently, Andrea teaches a variety of fitness classes at her studio Pilates Monterey in downtown Monterey, as well as Pasadera Country Club, Tehama Golf Club, and Monterey Sports Center. She continues to see clients for private sessions and works with special populations.

Mia Hurst has been working in the fitness industry for over 12 years, starting in England as a Group Exercise Instructor, before certifying as a Personal Trainer in 2001 in Southern California where she started her lifelong journey into Pilates and Yoga before moving to Pacific Grove in late 2002.
Mia is certified as a YogaFit and PilatesFit instructor. She has Reformer, Pilates Mat Tech and Core Conditioning certifications as well as a Polestar Pilates Studio Certification, a comprehensive program providing in-depth instruction in Pilates principles, techniques, and practice using the Reformer, Trapeze Table, Chair, Ladder Barrel, Mat and small props. Polestar Pilates provides the most comprehensive Pilates rehabilitation and fitness curriculum and certification in the world today.
Mia is proud to be working with Polestar, whose mission is to create “an international community of research-oriented movement science professionals, transferring knowledge to our clients to improve health and well-being, through the application of Pilates and various methodologies of movement science."
